XCharge showcases its microgrid solution and the further development of the C7 at Power2Drive 2025
2025-04-23

Hamburg, 23 April 2025 – XCharge is presenting two key developments at Power2Drive Europe (booth B6.260): the new generation of the Net Zero Series (NZS GEN2) with integrated microgrid function for applications with Battery to Grid functionality and the improved C7 V2 DC fast charging station.

Net Zero Series GEN2: Integration of battery storage, solar system and fast charging

The Net Zero Series GEN2 combines battery storage, photovoltaic integration and fast charging in a single system. It delivers up to 194  kW of charging power, stores energy in a 233 kWh battery (expandable to 466 kWh) and reduces load peaks in the power grid through intelligent energy management. The Net Zero Series GEN2 can charge bidirectionally and flexibly distribute energy between the battery, grid and consumers.

This system is in use, for example, at various XCharge locations. There, the system supplies electricity to offices and electric vehicles during the day. At night, the storage system is automatically charged from the grid – at lower rates and without affecting grid stability. In addition, the battery is charged with electricity from the company's own PV system.

“All the improvements we have implemented are a direct result of feedback from our charge point operators. By working closely with our partners, everyone will benefit in the future from well-thought-out, market-driven features,” explains Albina Iljasov, Head of Europe at XCharge. “Our charging solutions are designed to deliver long-term value through future-proof features, robust design and lower operating costs.”

C7 V2: New features and improved user experience

The C7 DC charging station has also been technically revised. New features include improved cable management that prevents damage and makes it easier to use. A color-coded LED display on the charging plug shows the status – free, occupied or faulty – at a glance. Bright LED lights on the top improve visibility in outdoor areas. The improved user interface now also provides information on the current charging process, such as charging power and charging progress in real time.

For operators, the C7 V2 brings important technical upgrades: it now supports four SIM cards (two active, two as a reserve), which ensures fail-safe communication even in areas with weak reception. An integrated 5G router ensures fast data transmission. The charging station is prepared for plug & charge according to ISO 15118 and communicates via OCPP 2.0.1 – the latest standard protocol for connecting to operator platforms for billing, monitoring or remote maintenance. It is now also possible to preconditionally charge e-buses (according to VDV 261). An automatic energy-saving mode for the display reduces operating costs in standby mode.
